A man standing trial for the alleged abuse and fatal harm of his three-month-old son declared in court that he was the “best father in the world.” Klevi Pirjani, 37, and his wife Nivalda Santos Pirjani, 34, are facing charges of murdering their son Miguel, who passed away after suffering severe injuries in November of the previous year. Medical reports revealed that Miguel had sustained a fractured skull, brain bleeding, and multiple broken bones of different ages.

Accusations suggest that Miguel was subjected to systematic abuse by his parents leading up to his death. Although the father denies causing any harm to his child, the mother has accepted responsibility for causing or allowing the child’s death.

During the court proceedings, Klevi Pirjani, a former chef and digger operator, testified that he cherished his son deeply and was constantly concerned about his health. He emphasized his unwavering love for Miguel and his dedication to ensuring the best care for him.

Emergency services responded swiftly to the family’s residence in Seacombe, Wirral, on the day Miguel went into cardiac arrest. The baby was immediately taken to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in critical condition.

Medical examinations revealed a series of severe injuries on Miguel, including skull fractures, brain bleeding, and fractures in various parts of his body. The prosecution asserted that these injuries indicated a significant level of physical abuse inflicted on the child.

Despite his wife’s claims of abuse, Klevi Pirjani denied any violent behavior towards her or their son. He maintained that he was actively involved in Miguel’s medical appointments and always sought the best care for his child.

The trial, overseen by Mr. Justice Baker, is ongoing, with both accused parties pleading not guilty to the charges brought against them.
