Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, attended a charity event over the weekend with her husband, Prince Harry. The event, known as the George Zajfen Tennis Tournament, took place on Saturday, October 18, at the Los Angeles Tennis Club. It was organized to honor George Zajfen, a young individual who had a passion for tennis and was the son of Kelly McKee Zajfen and Julian Zajfen. Unfortunately, George passed away in 2022 due to a sudden viral illness.
Kelly, a close friend of Meghan’s for many years, is the founder of the Alliance of Moms, a community that offers support to expectant and parenting youth in the foster care system of Los Angeles. The tournament aimed to raise funds to assist young mothers and improve their future prospects. During the event, Kelly delivered a speech, with Meghan visibly moved and Prince Harry standing by her side.
Following the event, Kelly expressed her gratitude on Instagram, acknowledging the significant contribution made towards raising $200,000 to support youth in Los Angeles and California. She specifically thanked the sponsors, Ziffren Brittenham and The Archewell Foundation, as well as Harry and Meghan for their unwavering dedication to the cause.
Kelly highlighted the enduring friendship between herself and Meghan, emphasizing Meghan’s consistent support, especially during challenging times such as the loss of George. Meghan and Harry had previously made a donation to a GoFundMe page in memory of George, showcasing their continued support for Kelly.
In a candid Instagram Q&A session, Kelly shared insights into her long-standing friendship with Meghan, expressing admiration for Meghan’s nurturing and loving nature. She reflected on Meghan’s presence during significant life events, including her wedding and the difficult period following George’s passing.
In a heartfelt piece for People, Kelly opened up about her experience of grief and the overwhelming support she received from her community. She emphasized the importance of living in the present and cherishing the moments of kindness and solidarity that have helped her navigate through the loss of her son.
