Darts player Dom Taylor has publicly apologized for his deceitful behavior regarding drug use and opened up about the tragic loss of his daughter. Taylor, aged 27, shared a detailed statement on Facebook following his expulsion from the PDC World Championship.
The Darts Regulation Authority (DRA) confirmed that Taylor received a positive drug test result from December 14, leading to his suspension from the championship. Despite winning his first-round match against Oskar Lukasiak, Taylor’s prize money was held back due to his suspension, allowing his scheduled opponent, Jonny Clayton, to advance to the next round.
In his online apology, Taylor expressed regret for his actions, recalling a previous failed drug test before the 2025 Ally Pally tournament. He admitted to deceiving himself and others, expressing remorse for his dishonesty during an interview after his recent victory.
Taylor acknowledged completing the required program following his previous suspension, which had been shortened from a potential two-year ban to three months. He then revealed personal traumas from his teenage years, attributing his struggles to past distressing events, including the loss of his grandmother and other significant losses that deeply affected him.
The darts player disclosed that he plans to seek assistance after the holiday season, recognizing the importance of reaching out for help in times of need. Taylor expressed his sincere apologies to his family, friends, fans, and supporters, emphasizing his commitment to getting the necessary help and returning stronger in the future.
