A British tourist, aged 56, tragically passed away in the Canary Islands after falling nearly 20 feet due to a hotel railing collapsing. Another visitor, aged 54, was also involved in the incident and sustained serious injuries in the Costa Teguise resort of Lanzarote earlier today. The 56-year-old individual was declared deceased at the scene, while the other individual was promptly taken to the Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital in critical condition.

The event occurred at approximately 1:30 am when emergency services received reports of two individuals falling from a significant height within the hotel premises. The Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC), local police, and the Spanish Civil Guard were dispatched to the location. Reports indicate that the faulty railing was situated in an elevated section of the hotel complex.

The Civil Guard has initiated an inquiry to ascertain whether there was any negligence in the maintenance of the railing or the overall security of the hotel. A Foreign Office representative informed the Mirror that support is being extended to the affected British families in Spain.

In a separate incident in August, a 22-year-old British tourist vacationing in Spain sustained severe injuries after plunging from a hotel balcony in Ibiza. The incident occurred on August 18 around 8 pm at the Marco Polo hotel in San Antonio, resulting in chest and head injuries for the holidaymaker.
