Alan Carr’s former spouse, Paul Drayton, has stated that the Celebrity Traitors personality possesses a “ruthless streak,” revealing insights into their past relationship during an interview. The 49-year-old comedian currently stars as a Traitor on the popular BBC One show, appearing alongside Jonathan Ross and Paloma Faith.
Audiences have witnessed Alan and his fellow Traitors eliminate three stars – Paloma Faith, Tom Daley, and Ruth Codd – while three Faithfuls took the blame and were ousted. Niko Omilana, Tameka Empson, and Clare Balding are among those wrongly accused and eliminated from the show.
Paul, Alan’s former husband, recently reflected on their marriage, which ended three years ago following a 13-year relationship and a 2018 wedding in Los Angeles. The split occurred amicably during lockdown shortly after Paul’s arrest for driving under the influence.
In an interview with The Sun on Sunday, Paul described Alan as someone who is highly regarded for his humor but presents a different persona at home. He mentioned Alan’s assertive nature, stating, “He does have a ruthless streak. He will only tolerate so much before cutting ties with someone.” Paul emphasized that he maintains a positive relationship with Alan and highlighted Alan’s tendency to remove individuals from his life if he feels they are exploiting him.
Contrary to assumptions, Paul clarified that Alan and co-star Paloma Faith are not close friends, despite Paloma feeling betrayed by Alan’s character in the show. Paul indicated that they do not socialize and suggested that Paloma is not someone Alan typically associates with.
Moreover, Paul mentioned Alan’s close friendships with Amanda Holden, Angellica Bell, Sally Lindsay, and Paul O’Grady before the latter’s passing. The Mirror has sought a response from Alan Carr regarding these statements.
Recent reports suggest that Alan is being considered for a new show following his success on Celebrity Traitors. Sources indicate that the BBC is interested in retaining him for future projects due to his standout performance on the show.
A public relations expert suggested that a potential TV series could be in the works for Alan as part of a strategic plan to reintroduce him to mainstream television after a period of relative quiet.
