“Beware of Prime Day Scams: Tips to Stay Safe”

As the highly anticipated Prime Day sales approach, consumers are advised to be cautious to avoid falling victim to cybercriminals. Scammers often take advantage of major shopping events like Prime Day by using deceptive tactics such as fake offers, phishing emails, and counterfeit websites to steal personal information and payment details from unsuspecting shoppers.

Recent findings by Check Point’s security team revealed a concerning trend of 6,843 new Amazon-related web domains registered globally between December 2025 and last month. Particularly alarming was the surge in April, with a staggering 1,446 new domains created in a single month. This timing is critical as it allows attackers to establish malicious domains well in advance, making them appear legitimate and harder to detect leading up to Prime Day.

While the majority of domains are safe, Check Point identified that approximately one in every 11 newly created Amazon-themed domains had malicious or suspicious intent. The company emphasized that Prime Day scams are successful because they closely mimic regular shopping experiences, with familiar branding, convincing checkout processes, delivery notifications, and a sense of urgency.

To safeguard against falling prey to scams during Prime Day, shoppers are advised to take simple precautions. Firstly, carefully scrutinize website addresses before entering any personal information. Scammers often create fake pages that closely resemble Amazon’s official site, using tactics like extra characters, hyphenated brand names, or unusual domain endings.

Additionally, it is recommended to avoid clicking on links received through emails, text messages, or social media posts. Instead, manually type Amazon’s website address into the browser. Be wary of deals that seem too good to be true, messages claiming refunds are owed, or alerts pressuring immediate action, as these are common tactics used by scammers to create urgency.

Moreover, be cautious of fake notifications about Prime accounts being suspended. If you receive such messages urging immediate action, verify the information directly on Amazon’s official website to avoid falling victim to scams.

By staying vigilant and following these guidelines, shoppers can enjoy Prime Day without falling into the traps set by scammers. Prime Day is scheduled to take place from June 23 to June 26, featuring an array of deals and offers that will be covered by Express.co.uk throughout the event.
