Following reports of a shooting, a prominent shopping center in the United States was placed on lockdown. Law enforcement swiftly responded to Wolfchase Galleria Mall in Cordova, Memphis, Tennessee, where witnesses mentioned hearing several gunshots before being evacuated. A single individual was reportedly injured in the incident.
According to a spokesperson from the Memphis Police Department, the situation was contained and clarified that it was not an active shooter situation but rather an isolated event. The vicinity of the mall, particularly near the Macy’s entrance, saw the presence of multiple law enforcement officers, including Tennessee Highway Patrol troopers, Shelby County sheriff’s deputies, and Memphis police officers.
FOX13 noted the significant law enforcement response at the scene, with numerous officers from various agencies, and highlighted the presence of Tennessee Highway Patrol and Memphis Police vehicles obstructing the mall entrance.
An eyewitness within the mall recounted hearing what resembled gunshots shortly after disembarking an elevator, triggering an immediate lockdown before a safe evacuation was executed.
Allegedly, the suspect fled the scene in a white SUV. As per Citizen, the lockdown was lifted upon the suspect’s exit from the premises.
Although FOX13 reported the victim’s fatality, official confirmation is pending. The suspect, as per the publication, was apprehended.
