In 2016, Gordon Ramsay and his wife Tana experienced the loss of their son, Rocky, who was born prematurely at five months and did not survive despite having a strong heartbeat, as revealed by Tana. Gordon opened up about how communication was pivotal in helping them cope with the heartbreaking event during an interview on the High Performance podcast.
The couple, who have been together for nearly 30 years, reminisced about their humble beginnings when they were young, foolish, and financially struggling. Gordon recalled a time when he had to seek a loan from Tana’s father to purchase a flat. However, during a lunch meeting to discuss the loan, Gordon was surprised by his father-in-law’s response, which involved a clever condition related to selling his Porsche.
Reflecting on the incident, Gordon humorously recounted the advice he received to sell his luxury car, which he eventually did. Years later, he managed to repurchase the same Porsche he had sold, adding it to his impressive collection that now includes several Ferraris, an Aston Martin, and McLaren vehicles.
Reacquiring the Porsche held sentimental value for Gordon, who admitted that his passion for supercars may have originated from childhood memories of his father dropping him off at school in a rundown Vauxhall Viva. Despite feeling embarrassed back then, Gordon now appreciates the journey that led him to indulge in collecting high-performance cars as a reward for his hard work and success.
