Rapper and Netflix personality Ghetts faces charges after a fatal hit-and-run incident in London on October 18, as reported by the Metropolitan Police.
The artist, also known as Justin Clarke-Samuel, is accused of not stopping at the scene after allegedly hitting a man with his vehicle on Redbridge Lane East, Ilford. The victim, a 20-year-old, passed away in the hospital following the incident.
Clarke-Samuel, aged 41, made a court appearance at Stratford Magistrates’ Court on Monday. He has been detained in custody and is scheduled to appear at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on October 27. Authorities are urging any witnesses to the crash to come forward.
Recognized for his music collaborations with popular artists like Skepta, Stormzy, and Ed Sheeran, Clarke-Samuel boasts millions of streams on Spotify. His music has been featured on BBC Radio 1 and he was a nominee for a BET Award in 2008 for Best International Act: UK, alongside Chipmunk, Giggs, and Skepta.
Having won the Mobo Award for Best Male Act in 2021 and later receiving the Mobo Pioneer Award in 2024 for his influence on British black culture, Clarke-Samuel is a prominent figure in the music industry.
Apart from his music career, the artist is known for his role as the menacing character Crazy in Netflix’s Supacell series. He has also appeared in the 2018 crime thriller film, The Intent2, playing a character caught between loyalty to his crew and a ruthless crime boss.
