In a tragic incident in the serene Thai town of Uthai Sawan, three-year-old Paweenuch Supholwong miraculously survived a violent attack on her nursery. Amidst the chaos, she was found unharmed, asleep under a blanket, while her classmates tragically lost their lives at the hands of a gunman.

Paweenuch, fondly known as “Ammy,” was shielded from harm as the assailant targeted those around her. Rescuers discovered her untouched, still sleeping, and took her away from the harrowing scene to spare her from witnessing the aftermath. Another child also survived but sustained severe injuries in the massacre.

The heart-wrenching event, which occurred in October 2022, deeply shook the tight-knit community of Uthai Sawan. The assailant, identified as former officer Panya Kamrap, had a troubled past and had previously been dismissed from duty due to drug-related offenses.

Paweenuch’s parents, who were away working in Bangkok at the time, received distressing news of the incident but were overjoyed to learn of their daughter’s survival. Despite escaping physical harm, Paweenuch mourned the loss of her best friend, who perished in the tragic event.

In the aftermath, villagers gathered at local temples to mourn the victims and honor the young survivor whose resilience was deemed miraculous. Paweenuch received symbolic soul strings as part of a Buddhist ritual to call back her spirit after the trauma she endured.
