Sky Q has been a popular choice for TV viewers in the UK for over a decade due to its recording capabilities. Now, Manhattan’s latest offering, the S4-R Freesat 4K TV Recorder, has entered the scene, providing similar features such as recording shows and movies onto its internal storage. What sets the S4-R apart is its lack of subscription fees, offering access to over 100 free TV and radio channels.
With the ability to record multiple channels simultaneously like Sky Q, the S4-R comes with a 500GB hard drive, expandable to 1TB and 2TB. It also boasts live TV controls allowing users to pause and rewind broadcasts. The device features an intuitive interface, search functionality, and access to a wide range of on-demand content through various apps including BBC iPlayer, ITVX, Channel 4, and My5.
Alex Arbab-Zadeh, Manhattan’s COO, highlighted the enhanced recording capabilities of the S4-R, allowing up to four programs to be recorded concurrently. He positioned the S4-R as a cost-effective alternative to subscription TV, offering flexibility and choice without monthly bills. The S4-R is set to launch this month and will be available from retailers such as Currys, John Lewis, Argos, and Richer Sounds, starting at £219.99 for the 500GB model and rising to £249.99 and £279.99 for the 1TB and 2TB versions, respectively, in the coming months.
