Dealing with unwanted phone calls is a common challenge for smartphone users. Recent data shows that individuals in the UK typically receive around eight of these intrusive calls per month. These calls often aim to extract personal information and credit card details for fraudulent purposes.
Vodafone has introduced a new service called Scam Call Protection to assist its customers in avoiding suspicious phone calls. This innovative feature utilizes artificial intelligence to detect and highlight potential scams, spam, and nuisance calls.
Operating discreetly in the background, the system analyzes all incoming calls. If any call raises suspicion, customers will receive a straightforward on-screen notification indicating a possible scam call.
Rob Winterschladen, Consumer Director at VodafoneThree, emphasized the increasing difficulty in identifying scam calls and the potential for feeling unprepared. He highlighted that Scam Call Protection enhances consumer security by continuously monitoring calls and flagging known or suspected scam calls.
This enhancement is part of Vodafone’s Secure Net Mobile platform, which already offers advanced parental controls, round-the-clock ID monitoring to prevent identity theft, and real-time virus and malware protection.
For those interested, a free three-month trial of the service is available, with subsequent monthly charges set at £2.
