Alexandra Palace secures the PDC World Darts Championship until 2031 under a new five-year deal, putting an end to speculations of relocation. The championship will now be held in the Great Hall starting from the 2026/27 season, increasing capacity to accommodate over 5,000 fans per session.
Since 2007, Alexandra Palace has been the home of the World Darts Championship, a fact celebrated by PDC chief executive Matt Porter. The move to the Great Hall in 2026/27 is expected to enhance the unique Christmas atmosphere that defines the tournament.
Emma Dagnes OBE, the chief executive of Alexandra Palace, highlighted the significant impact of events like the World Darts Championship on revenue generation and cultural programs. The venue’s Creative Learning Programme will continue to benefit from support provided by the Matchroom Charitable Foundation.
The reigning champion, Luke Littler, expressed his commitment to keeping the championship at Ally Pally and declined participation in a potential move to Saudi Arabia. Meanwhile, the World Series is set to debut in Saudi Arabia next year, with notable players like Luke Humphries anticipated to compete.
The PDC World Darts Championship will kick off on December 11, with exclusive live coverage available through Sky’s Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle. The championship series will span various countries, including Saudi Arabia, Denmark, the US, New Zealand, Australia, and the Netherlands, attracting a diverse global audience.
