It has been half a year since siblings Jack, 4, and Lilly Sullivan, 6, disappeared under mysterious circumstances from their bedroom, and there has been no trace of them since.

Jack and Lilly went missing from their rural residence in Lansdowne Station, Pictou County, Nova Scotia, on May 2, 2025. Their mother, Malehya Brooks-Murray, raised the alarm after she realized her two young children were no longer in the house, where they resided with her, her husband Daniel Martell, and their younger daughter Meadow.

According to reports, their mother heard the children playing in the adjacent room around 10 am but later discovered that they had vanished. It is believed they exited through the patio door.

A thorough search was launched for the missing Canadian siblings, accompanied by interviews. A local resident, Brad Wong, claimed to have heard a “loud vehicle” near the house in the early hours of May 2.

In legal documents, RCMP Corporal Charlene Curl stated that Wong observed “vehicle lights over the treetops” from his elevated residence compared to Martell’s property.

Wong mentioned, “The vehicle departed three or four times after midnight and during the early morning hours. It would drive away, then return, remaining within earshot the whole time,” as per The Sun.

Another neighbor, Justin Smith, informed the police that he heard a vehicle maneuvering near the railroad tracks close to the family’s residence around 1:30 am. “[Smith] later learned from Brad Wong that Martell’s vehicle came and went five or six times that night. Wong identified the car Smith heard as Martell’s,” the constable reported.

Martell claimed he went to bed early and did not wake until the following morning. He stated that no one left the house, and there were no visitors on that day.

Meanwhile, Malehya, the children’s mother, told authorities that Martell mentioned staying up to clean, although she was unsure as “it wasn’t clean when she woke up.”

Despite extensive efforts, the whereabouts of the two children remain unknown.

Reflecting on the six months without her children, Malehya shared a poignant message on Facebook. She expressed, “As a mother, my love for Lilly and Jack surpasses all, and the ache of not having them with me is beyond words. Every moment, every second, I think of my children.”

While various speculations circulate regarding their disappearance, the prevailing belief is that they wandered away from home together. Sergeant Rob McCamon affirmed that the case is being treated as a missing persons investigation with no indication of criminal involvement at present.
