Kelly Osbourne was visibly emotional as she honored her late father, Ozzy, while accepting an award on his behalf. Ozzy, the iconic Black Sabbath frontman, passed away at the age of 76 after suffering a cardiac arrest in July.
The daughter of Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, Kelly took the stage at The Birmingham Awards to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award on her father’s behalf. The event, held at The Eastside Rooms, was a touching tribute to Ozzy’s legacy.
During her acceptance speech, Kelly shared heartfelt memories of her father’s deep affection for Birmingham. She expressed, “This recognition tonight tops them all. He cherished his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, but his star on the Walk of Stars on Broad Street held a special place in his heart.”
She continued, “Despite spending much of his life in America due to work commitments, Birmingham remained his true home. His love for this city and its people was unwavering. That’s why his final visit in July to bid farewell was so significant.”
Ozzy’s final performance, a charity concert titled Back To The Beginning, took place at Villa Park in Birmingham on July 5. Shortly after, he passed away, drawing thousands of mourners to his funeral to pay their respects.
Kelly’s voice trembled with emotion as she recalled the overwhelming support from the community. She reflected, “The countless individuals who lined the streets, bringing the city to a standstill, the genuine affection shown to him – my family and I were deeply touched by the outpouring of love.”
She added, “Throughout his illustrious career spanning over five decades, his most meaningful show was in Aston. Despite health challenges in his later years, he was resolute that his final concert should be here. He was a proud Brummy from the beginning to the end.”
Concluding her speech, Kelly expressed gratitude on behalf of her family for the esteemed lifetime achievement award. She remarked, “I believe he is watching over us tonight, smiling with pride.”
Ozzy, a father of six, had three children from his first marriage and three, including Kelly, Jack, and Aimee, with Sharon. Recently, Jack Osbourne provided an update on the family’s well-being post-Ozzy’s passing, mentioning Sharon’s struggle to cope but acknowledging the overwhelming support from fans.
