In the latest update for January 2026, the Premium Bond results have been revealed, marking the start of the New Year with two individuals each winning £1 million.
The first fortunate winner, residing in Suffolk, holds the maximum £50,000 in Premium Bonds. Their winning bond number, 570QM451332, was acquired in February 2024. Similarly, the second £1 million winner hails from Berkshire and also holds £50,000 in Premium Bonds, with the winning bond number 377PG290829, purchased in December 2019.
Premium Bonds, a savings product provided by National Savings & Investment (NS&I), offer a unique twist by entering participants into a monthly prize draw instead of offering a fixed interest rate on their savings.
The monthly prizes range from £25 to £1 million, with a higher prevalence of smaller prizes compared to the larger sums. While thousands of £25 prizes are typically awarded, there are only two £1 million prizes available each month. Participants can invest up to £50,000 in Premium Bonds, with each pound invested corresponding to a distinct bond number.
The odds of winning a prize each month stand at 22,000 to 1 for every £1 bond held. Winners are notified via email or text message by NS&I, giving them the option to have their prize money deposited into their bank account or reinvested into Premium Bonds. Additionally, they can utilize the NS&I online prize checker tool or the Premium Bonds prize checker app to check if they have won.
Currently, the prize fund rate for Premium Bonds is 3.60%, a rate that has remained constant since the August 2025 draw. Although there has been a gradual decline in the prize fund rate recently, resulting in a slight decrease in the number of larger prizes awarded, two £1 million prizes are still up for grabs each month. Over 24 million individuals are currently engaged in the Premium Bonds scheme.
Recent data disclosed the luckiest locations for winning Premium Bond prizes, with Hampshire and the Isle of Wight topping the list last year, where 42 individuals secured the second-largest Premium Bond prize of £100,000 in 2025. Essex followed closely with 37 £100,000 prizes won, and Outer London saw 32 individuals scoop similar prizes. In 2025, the £1 million jackpot was claimed twice in Norwich and Cumbria.
