Jessica Ennis-Hill, the Olympic champion, has confirmed her participation in Kevin Sinfield’s charity event in Sheffield to support Motor Neurone Disease (MND). Ennis-Hill, a Sheffield resident, will run alongside Sinfield in the fourth segment of his ‘7 in 7 Together’ challenge.

Sinfield, who initiated this challenge on Monday, aims to complete an ultra marathon every day for a week. This marks Sinfield’s sixth consecutive charity event for MND causes, having already raised over £10 million. The funds contributed to establishing a pioneering center in Leeds, a first of its kind in the United Kingdom.

The former England and Leeds Rhinos star began these challenges following his close friend Rob Burrow’s MND diagnosis. Sinfield’s remarkable endeavors have garnered global recognition, and Ennis-Hill’s involvement is expected to significantly raise awareness for MND.

Ennis-Hill, a 2012 Olympic heptathlon gold medalist and three-time world champion, transitioned into a successful media career post-retirement. She actively supports various charities, including the Sheffield Children’s Hospital and Barrie Wells’ sports foundation.

Sinfield remains committed to finding a cure for MND, emphasizing the ongoing need for awareness campaigns. Recent news of England World Cup winner Lewis Moody’s MND diagnosis reinforces the urgency of continuing these efforts. Moody plans to host a fundraising dinner in April and organize a charity bike ride in 2026.
