A large number of apps and services typically require a monthly fee for access to their platforms, and now it seems WhatsApp might be following suit. Recently, the team at WABetaInfo noticed that the chat application owned by Meta is working on an update known as WhatsApp Plus.
This upgrade is expected to bring exclusive enhancements and features, including the ability to pin up to 20 chats (up from the current limit of 3) and improved customization options such as changing the app theme, icon, and accent colors.
Additionally, users may have the opportunity to receive bonus stickers, access more ringtones, and use additional immersive reactions when replying to chats. WABetaInfo explained, “WhatsApp is developing a new optional premium subscription plan called ‘WhatsApp Plus’ for the standard consumer app, offering users extra features in exchange for a monthly fee. This plan is currently in development for Android and iOS and has not been publicly released yet.”
In addition to the initial upgrades, Meta may introduce more features over time for users willing to pay. While WhatsApp has not officially confirmed these speculations, the existence of test versions of the Plus app discovered by WABetaInfo suggests ongoing development.
It is important to note that the free version of WhatsApp will remain available, and users will not be compelled to pay for the premium features. This optional subscription is designed to provide a bonus to users who are willing to pay a monthly fee.
Stay tuned for further updates on WhatsApp Plus. Exciting developments may be on the horizon.
