“Wozniacki Defends Raducanu Over Isner’s Criticism”

Caroline Wozniacki has come to Emma Raducanu’s defense following John Isner’s comments questioning the significance of Raducanu’s historic US Open win in comparison to a recent surprising tennis upset. Raducanu made history in 2021 by becoming the first qualifier to claim a Grand Slam title at Flushing Meadows.

The then 18-year-old Raducanu impressively won 10 consecutive matches without dropping a set, culminating in a thrilling final victory over Leylah Fernandez. This achievement is widely recognized as one of the most remarkable in tennis history.

Recently, Valentin Vacherot created another shock in the sport by becoming the lowest-ranked player ever to win a Masters title in Shanghai. Vacherot defeated top players like Novak Djokovic on his way to securing the trophy by defeating his cousin Arthur Rinderknech in the final.

Isner, a retired American player with a career-best ranking of world No. 8, controversially stated that Vacherot’s achievement was more impressive than Raducanu’s US Open win due to its improbability. However, Wozniacki disagreed, asserting that winning a Grand Slam title outweighs any other accomplishment in tennis.

Wozniacki, the 2018 Australian Open champion, made a comeback in 2023 after initially retiring in 2022. She participated in prestigious tournaments like the US Open, Indian Wells Open, and the Paris Olympics. On the other hand, Raducanu has not replicated her US Open success and continues to face comparisons to that memorable night in New York.

In an interview with The Guardian, Raducanu acknowledged the challenge of handling comparisons to her US Open victory and the impact it has on her mindset. She mentioned attempting therapy but decided to discontinue after two sessions, feeling that others couldn’t relate to her unique experiences.
