Sky Sports host Jo Wilson has shared her cancer battle, expressing her fears of death and preparations for the worst upon receiving the distressing diagnosis. The 41-year-old was found to have cervical cancer in June 2022 following a routine smear test. Despite overcoming cancer for two years now, Wilson endured a challenging journey post-diagnosis, as tests revealed cancer had spread to her lymph nodes, necessitating six weeks of treatment before being given the all-clear in June 2023.

Having joined Sky Sports in 2011, Wilson underwent radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and brachytherapy to combat the disease. While these treatments saved her life, they induced early menopause, significantly impacting her career as a presenter.

Wilson’s cancer diagnosis came shortly after giving birth to her daughter Mabel in 2020. In a recent Sky Sports News documentary titled “Football, Cancer, and Me,” she shared her feelings of fear during the experience, choosing not to burden others with the news while contemplating the possibility of death.

The documentary also features conversations between Wilson and her colleagues Emma Saunders and former manager Tony Mowbray about their own battles with cancer. Mowbray disclosed his bowel cancer diagnosis from the previous year, while Saunders underwent surgery due to a brain infection following a thyroid cancer diagnosis, leaving her partner, football manager Will Still, shocked by the resulting scar.

Reflecting on her journey, Wilson emphasized the importance of raising awareness about cancer, encouraging individuals to seek medical help if they feel something is amiss. Sky has recently discounted its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle for the upcoming 2025/26 season, offering over 1,400 live matches across various leagues, including at least 215 live Premier League games, a significant increase from previous seasons.
