Prince Andrew is once again embroiled in controversy amid reports suggesting he attempted to persuade the Met Police to initiate a smear campaign against Virginia Giuffre, a victim of sex offenses. This revelation has sparked strong reactions from high-ranking officials.

Denying any allegations of sex crimes against him, Andrew allegedly instructed his Met bodyguard, a member of the elite SO14 Royalty Protection Group, to investigate Giuffre by providing her personal information. Furthermore, he reportedly involved one of Queen Elizabeth’s top aides, Ed Perkins, in the matter.

An email obtained by The Mail on Sunday contains explosive claims, alleging that Andrew contacted Perkins just before a notorious photo of him and the then 17-year-old Giuffre was published. The email purportedly accuses Giuffre of having a criminal record in the US, a claim refuted by her family.

Although it is reported that the officer did not comply with Andrew’s alleged requests, the Met Police stated they are actively looking into the claims, though no formal investigation has been initiated. Broadcaster Emily Maitlis expressed satisfaction with the police’s response, emphasizing the importance of seeking justice for victims.

Maitlis also highlighted Andrew’s continued email correspondence with Jeffrey Epstein, suggesting that his ties with Epstein remained intact. Ed Miliband, the Energy Secretary, echoed concerns over the allegations, emphasizing the improper use of close protection officers.

When asked about the possibility of stripping Andrew of his titles through legislation, the minister deferred to the Royal Family’s stance, indicating that Parliament had more pressing matters to address. Giuffre’s family condemned the email revelations, denouncing attempts to discredit and defame survivors while expressing confidence that the truth will prevail.
