Prince Andrew reportedly communicated to Jeffrey Epstein that he might have encountered Virginia Giuffre, who has accused him. Previously, the royal stated in a 2019 Newsnight interview with Emily Maitlis that he had never met Giuffre, who alleged she was trafficked by Epstein and engaged in a sexual relationship with Prince Andrew when she was 17. Throughout, Prince Andrew has denied any misconduct and suggested a photo of himself, Giuffre, and Ghislaine Maxwell could have been doctored.

In a message to Epstein in 2011, Prince Andrew expressed uncertainty about meeting Giuffre, stating he might have met her in a group setting and acknowledging the possibility of a photograph. He criticized the media for pursuing the story, dismissing it as an attempt by Miss Roberts (Giuffre) to exploit the situation.

Despite the ongoing allegations, Prince Andrew decided to relinquish his titles, including the Duke of York, after revelations that he had corresponded with Epstein post his criminal conviction in 2008. Allegations also surfaced that he instructed his Met Police bodyguard to gather damaging information about Giuffre shortly before an incriminating photograph was published.

Giuffre’s forthcoming book, “Nobody’s Girl: A Memoir of Surviving Abuse and Fighting for Justice,” set to be released posthumously following her suicide earlier this year, is expected to contain further details about her alleged abuse.
