Amid calls to cancel the bout due to the accusations against Davis, reports surfaced that Paul had approached Ryan Garcia as a potential replacement. However, a statement from Paul’s promotional company, Most Valuable Promotions, clarified that no decision has been finalized. The company stated that they are conducting an investigation into the civil lawsuit filed against Davis in Miami-Dade County on October 30, 2025, and emphasized their commitment to condemning violence and handling the matter with thoroughness and respect for all parties involved. They will make a decision on the next course of action after completing their review and consulting with relevant stakeholders.

While Davis has yet to respond to the allegations, his trainer Calvin Ford dismissed them as baseless. The lawsuit claims that Davis attacked his ex-partner Courtney Rossel at her workplace on October 27, with additional allegations of threats and physical assault against her on multiple occasions. Rossel is seeking $50,000 in damages and a jury trial.

Despite initial speculation of a potential fight between Paul and Garcia, promoter Oscar De La Hoya clarified that the matchup is unlikely due to contractual obligations. Paul may delay his return to the ring until December and has previously been linked to heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua, though securing a deal on short notice seems improbable.
